Maybe there was a reason the rain felt to be alive

Description

An affectionate moment between the main characters in The Healer. It's a cold, wet, rainy day...

The sections that I have in mind for this one:
Rain was hard to work in, to walk in, and seemed to be more alive than when I could duck away from back home. There wasn’t down time when it rained, there was still work, but it changes due to the weather. More times under a roof, and cleaning up fallen branches. My coat surprised a lot of people that I could keep a hood on, without needing to knot or tuck it under other clothes, and still have my hands free. It wasn’t totally waterproof. Yet I was very much drier than a lot. Lyrea often had to make sure to have plenty of extra toweling cloths available when everyone got home. And plenty of hot water to drink.
“Your cloak is very different,” Lyrea once commented.
“Coat, “ I pointed out the language difference. She seemed to want to get a closer look at the details of it. I had a it awhile before coming here. But my coat was still much sturdier than I had expected. The green color did blend in with the plants around, and the stitching kept everything tight. There was leather detailing in spots, and the hood was actually very large, considering. It was actually built more for keeping snow off than rain.

One evening, I found Xertis leaning against the doorway in her cloak and an extra shawl. She still looked cold. I had my green coat on, because it was still very cool due to the rain. She didn’t seemed all that surprised, but grateful as I wrapped the both of us inside the coat. She turned around, and gave a faint smile as she closed her eyes.
“You seemed like you needed…”
The sound of the rain consumed my words. We just stood there. She was warm. I held close. Neither of us wanted anything else at that moment. I closed my eyes, savoring the smell of her hair against my nose.
Maybe there was a reason the rain felt to be alive.

The characters are nicely drawn, especially their faces. They look warm and content. The coloring is nice too and I like the faint drizzle of rain. However, the rest of their bodies look much smaller compared to their heads and they're pretty short. Teens/adults have longer bodies and it helps to look at pics of actual people to get a better understanding of the human anatomy.

As for the background, I'm not sure what all that green stuff is suppose to be; grass, trees? Backgrounds are pretty difficult to do, and again it helps to look at references to get a good idea on how to do them.

Basically just keep practicing, study human bodies to get the proportions down and backgrounds.
